Meet Max

Our school mascot is a whippet.  Yep, a whippet.  I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I didn't know what a whippet was until I started teaching.

Whippet - small, slender racing dog similar to the greyhound.  (read NOT a greyhound, a lot like one, but definitely NOT a greyhound!)

Most of our students, including my own personal child, have not ever seen a whippet in person.  Until Friday that is - Max the whippet made an appearance at our 4th six weeks Top Dog assembly.

Max was a little unsure of the 350 excited kids staring at him.

More relaxed - what a beautiful dog!

Each of the Top Dogs got to pet Max.

How cool is that!  It was EXTREMELY nice of Max's owners to let him come for a visit.  Guess it's a good thing we are the whippets and not the whales, whimbrels or whapukus (yep - I googled "animal names beginning with wh").

Verse of the day - "In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind." Job 12:10

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

It was more than spectacular, to use the vernacular - a brilliant, amazing show!

Jackson and Luke on stage with the before "Chitty" car - Don't they look handsome in their knickers?  Thanks to Yommy for making his knickers!

Jackson in front of the new and improved "Chitty" car.

Jackson in his "sewer" child outfit backstage.  Cocoa powder works great to make a dirty stage face.

Closer up of the kids

Most of my time backstage was spent "wrangling" the girls.  Here they are applying their dirt and messing up their hair for Act II.

Curtain Call - Take a bow!

The Fans...
(We are so blessed to have so many people that love and care for our little man - Thanks again!)
Aunt Kay and Uncle J.R. drove in from Vernon to see him - so sweet!  Debbie, Danny, Yommy, Papa, Mom and Dad wouldn't have missed it for the world and Kendall loved it, too!  Of course she knew all the songs thanks to Bubba.  Debbie and Yommy came Friday night as well.

Mrs. Sevigny and Makayla came Saturday afternoon.  I missed getting a picture of Andrea, Taylor, Austin, Matthew and Mammers :(  Mammers and Mrs. Sevigny came Friday night also!

Saturday Night - Uncle Timothy and Aunt Jessica came down from Amarillo to watch and brought along Jessica's mom - Mrs. Robbins!  Daddy came again Saturday night while Yommy and Papa watched Kendall.  HaPpY BiRtHdAy, Jessica - thanks for spending part of your birthday weekend with us!

Mrs. P's mom surprised her with a visit from Waco so she brought her to the show!  What a loved little boy we have!

Signing Debbie's playbill...

and Aunt Kay's...

And Jacks signing Yommy's.  He really enjoyed giving his autograph!

Playbill ad from us...

And one from his teacher.  Way too nice and unexpected!  Jackson's ears turned bright red when he read it - he was so excited!

The cast...
(Can't say enough great things about each of these people.  So talented and super nice!)

Jackson and "Caractacus Potts"

Jackson and "Truly Scrumptious"

Jackson with Jeremy and Jemima Potts (aka his friends Ben and Charlotte)

Jackson and Grandpa Potts

Jackson and Baroness Bomburst

Jackson and Baron Bomburst

Jackson and Boris the Spy

Jackson and the Childcatcher - he looks really scared doesn't he?

Jackson and the Toymaker

And last but not least - The hair...

Just in time for Baseball to begin!

He was a very tired little boy after the third show Saturday night!  Thanks to everyone for the "Good Luck"s, "Break a Leg"s and well wishes!  We are very proud of him and the whole cast and crew!  It was an amazing experience he will never forget!

Verse of the day - "Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!" Psalm 150:4

Silly Mommy!

You should know better than to try to take posed pictures of both your children - especially after church!

Acting like she might go sit next Jackson...

But totally sitting on the opposite side of the fountain!

Now they're together - but Jackson's shirt is channeling the late 70's and Kendall's talking about the trees.

Can you say defiant?

This looks promising...

But she's off again!

Now she's jumping and Jacks is playing with his "long" hair that's driving him crazy!!!

Let's talk about Kendall's precious outfit.  My mom got it for her!  It's so cute and the top is reversible.  The other side has Santa Claus so she can wear it next Christmas also - very clever!!!  Jackson, on the other hand, got dry-erase marker on his red shirt on Friday so this is as "Valentine-y" as he could get.

They're both smiling - I'll take it!!!

Verse of the day - "I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me." Proverbs 8:17

Can we talk...

About Jackson's Hair?

He can't cut it until after Chitty Chitty Bang Bang this weekend.  Our whole family is ready for him to be able to cut his hair - it's driving us crazy (he says it's VERY itchy)!  Not like it's super-long, but to a boy who usually keeps it buzzed - we've reached new lengths!
This is what we're used to...

Compared to this "shaggy" look.

Too bad class pictures are tomorrow!  We've been experimenting with some mousse/gel options.

Look out Barber Shop - On Monday, here we come!!!

Verse of the day - "Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." Luke 12:7

I HeArT "Balemtimes"!

I love the parties...

Half of Kendall's class ready to party. (I didn't get to go - Zach took pictures for me!)

Mmm...pizza!

I promise her bow was placed better that morning!
I think she did a little re-style.

Mmm...icing!

Jackson and friends enjoying a cupcake.   (Again, I didn't get to attend - Thanks to my Mom for the pictures and helping with the party!)

Jackson and Taylor having a conversation about a cupcake - too sweet!

They iced and decorated their own cookies!

A few weeks ago in science, we made the phases of the moon using an Oreo cookie and a plastic knife (the white icing is the light reflected from the sun.).  Mrs. 7e is demonstrating our project for the parents before the Oreos are all gone!

Opening his Valentines!

FUN!  We read all of them again that night!

Two of my favorite people!  He's a lucky boy to have such a fantastic teacher!

So, I'm a sap if you didn't know that already.  One of my favorite things to do is make Valentine sacks with the kids.  I show them how to fold the paper in half to cut out a heart.  Not rocket-science, but for many of my students it is the first time to be shown how to do such a craft.  After I finished explaining and made my bag one of my students said, "Mrs. Mac - you seriously ROCK!"  I love those moments!

I'm skipping around a little bit.  The kids had their Valentine's Parties at school on Friday.  We also had a little Valentine Party in Sunday School on Sunday.  Here's Kendall's class eating their cookies.  Aren't they precious?

I love the presents...

Sweet presents from my students. I'm very blessed to have such loving, caring students!!!

Our Girl Scout Troop at school made the faculty these sweet Valentines that say, "Thank you for being a role model".  How sweet is that?

Jackson and Kendall's present to their teachers.
The hand is on the back of....

lotion!

Jackson and Johnny - one of his presents from Yommy and Papa!  Yep, my parents spoil my babies and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Kendall and her half-hidden puppy "Two-ee".  My mom made this dress for Kendall for Valentine's Day.  She put it on over her clothes and refused to take it off.  She obviously loves it!

Going through their goodies.  My mom made these pillowcases for them also.  She is sooooo talented I can't stand it!

Good thing she got a heart pillow because this girl's tired!

So is this boy!

Jackson's favorites were his new books.

Kendall loves her new magnetic dress-up triplets!

We used our gifts right away and had lovely dreams!

Beautiful roses from my three Valentines!

I hope your Valentine's Day was filled with love!

Verse of the day - "We love because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19
