Playing Catch Up Part 1

I wrote most of this blog before our world was turned upside down last week.  I don't want to pretend like everything is okay or normal - because it's not.  We're still hurting, grieving, and crying and that's okay.  As Zach said we are trying to figure out what our "new normal" is - we have been and are leaning heavily on God, our family and our friends as we stumble through this season in our lives.  Thanks for letting us lean!

When I was in 5th grade, my teacher (whom I loved) would draw a bottle of Ketchup on the board one day out of every six weeks.  She was a really great artist (this is where my love for colored chalk began) and would write "Ketch-UP day".  Now, in my infinite wisdom, I completely understand the need for an entire day of catching up on unfinished work.  In my case, I might need 2 months to catch up.  But here's my first attempt...

We attended Family Fun Night at church a few weeks ago.  The theme was based on going on adventures with your family.  We had a treasure map and watched movie clips of Chronicles of Narnia for our clues.  We had a lot of fun and seeing sweet friends made it even better!

Watching a clip from the movie - one of the few moments where Kendall was actually sitting still!

Jackson and Caroline enjoying some yummy Chick-Fil-A.  You can see my son's two favorite food groups are chicken and cookies.

If it were up to Kendall, she would still be drawing on the giant dry-erase board.

I tried to get a picture of John and Kendall together.  Kendall loves John!  We finally got him to pose, but she wouldn't have anything to do it!  Isn't his shirt too cute?  Caroline's is just like it only different colors.  Ann has the best taste!
My brother and sister-in-law came in on this weekend as well.  It was his Spring Break.  We got to spend all day Saturday with them.  We had a great time!!!  I am still kicking myself for leaving my camera at home.  I seriously do not have one picture from that day.  UGH!

Timothy came to watch Jackson's eArLy game Saturday morning.  Kendall was so excited when he pulled up, she took off running.  Jackson was already warming up, so he didn't get to see Timothy until after the game.  He came running out of the dugout asking to go hug Uncle Timmy!  We have missed Timothy and Jessica so much!

Mom, Jessica, Timothy, the kids and I had lunch together and then went to see the movie HOP.  Zach and my Dad were working and missed out on the fun.  HOP was a pretty cute movie - well the beginning is cute.  The napless wonder struck again so Kendall and I roamed the lobby until the movie was over.  Jackson really liked it.  We spent the rest of the day visiting at Mom and Dad's house.  It was a great day!

That Sunday Zach took Jackson to Red Raider Play Day at Jones Stadium.  Athletes volunteer their time at different stations (hula-hoop races, bounce houses, face painting, jump roping, sack races, t-ball, etc.) around the stadium.  The kids travel from station to station in groups.  Jackson had a great time and said that all the athletes were really nice, but the girl athletes were nicer than the boys.  Hmmm...I wonder if he might have been flirting?

Double T face painting

Doesn't he look good on the field...maybe someday?!?

He was so excited he got to drink from the "hoses" like the football players.

The athlete's shirts - Zach said, "I took this picture so you could include it in your blog."  Sweet boy!

Working with his team

I have to honestly say I have no idea who any of these athletes are, but Jackson was so excited to take a picture with them!  Zach said they were really nice to Jackson!

Fly to Jesus

And with your final heartbeat,
Kiss the world goodbye,
Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory's side... and

Fly to Jesus,
Fly to Jesus,
Fly to Jesus and live.

I'm picturing her with her husband in Heaven.  They're sitting by a calm lake, with fishing poles of course, talking about what a great son they raised.  We are celebrating your arrival in Heaven, but mourning the loss of you here with us.  Love you sweet lady!

Verse of the day - "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18

The "sweet spot"

Before we begin, is there anything cuter than a boy in a baseball uniform?

He's the only boy who can make a Yankees uniform look good-
and his sister is pretty cute in that "jaff" outfit!

Sorry for the blur...but the name has been fixed!
My dad and Jackson had a little hitting and fielding session a few Sundays ago.  Dad knows more about baseball than anyone I know and he's good at it!  It makes my heart soar when I watch the man that gave me my love for baseball give my son a few pointers.  It's one of those scenes you envision when you hear the words "It's a boy!" come out of the doctor's mouth.  My dad and my son playing ball together = Pure Love!!!

Telling Jacks to line up the "sweet spot" of the bat with the imaginary "x" on the ball.

Playing catch - we're trying to teach Jackson to use his same arm power batting as he does throwing.  He can hurl that ball!

Papa telling him to "extend those arms"!  He should know - his name is Ted Williams afterall!

Verse of the day - "The one who lives with integrity is righteous; his children who come after him will be happy." Proverbs 20:7
